High School. Math rolls along like a steam-roller. No mercy.
Many studies have shown that our high school students are
not learning math well, or deeply.
The curriculum is diluted, and the bar is lowered, and
lowered, and lowered.
But we don't have to settle for mediocrity.
We're going to help you raise the bar, the interest, and
the success.
"How? How can I help my high school children - I don't
understand the first thing about the math they're doing?"
The good news is that it's not necessary to understand the
math to help our children. Because what helps them most is not explaining the math, but
teaching them how to learn it - how to think their way into and through problems, how to
use the resources they have when they get stuck, how to connect the many topics and
procedures they learn, how to counteract the negative messages that come from outside and
inside that lead to discouragement, and giving up.
We can also light a spark for them, expanding their view of
math, and their place in it. |
